詳細	“Antoine de Montchretien and the birth of Political Economy” Workshop organized in the 400th anniversary of the Traicte de l’oeconomie politique, complete edition University of Salento (Lecce - Italy), April 27th, 2016 Montchrestien (or Montchretien) criticised Xenophon and Aristotle for confining the economy in the private sphere of the household. Economy is also political, he stated, and must be de- voted to the increase of production and wealth. Then he first introduced the expression “Po- litical Economy” not by chance - as most historians still believe - but as a cultural programme for the new economy.
